I’d not been to the beach for months. The thought perhaps of not having the time to do so being symptomatic of the inner turmoil for which a windswept empty space is such a balm. Winter is the time to visit but, with events having conspired to keep me off my bike and out of the water for weeks, a ‘light spring storm’ will do just as well; so much for the hoped for spring of adventures. I only visited for an hour, and at the time it seemed an effort to bother with a camera. It wasn’t of course, and I’m glad I did.
This has also reminded me that I keep meaning to code a full page gallery option, empty space seems far better appreciated as large as possible….
There is a poem called “Empty Spaces” by Erin Hanson that, while not precisely applicable in this instance is still meaningful, and rather lovely so I’ll share it anyway…
If there’s empty spaces in your heart,
They’ll make you think it’s wrong,
Like having empty spaces,
Means you never can be strong,
But I’ve learned that all these spaces,
Means there’s room enough to grow,
And the people that once filled them,
Were always meant to be let go,
And all these empty spaces,
Create a strange sort of pull,
That attract so many people,
You wouldn’t meet if they were full,
So if you’re made of empty spaces,
Don’t ever think it’s wrong,
Because maybe they’re just empty,
Until the right person comes along.
A walk on the beach, especially on a stormy day, is always a great way to cleanse the mind and stir the soul, I feel. It’s always worth getting out, camera in hand!
Here’s to summer adventures!
it is indeed!
Magical photos as always Mike and perfectly suited to mono.
Be well
Dave in WA.
Hi Dave, good to hear from you, I hope you’re keeping well and still enjoying that X100V?! Cheers for the kind words :-)
Hi Mike, Yes thanks. Loving the X100V although if I’m honest, I’ve been doing alot with a simple iPhone 13 Pro recently – shooting in raw. Don’t know whether you can access this Mike, but this is what led me to exploring the 13 Pro.

I haven’t gone all out of course away from my beloved Fujis, I’m just experimenting a little.
Be well Mike
Dave
PS: 2 weeks ago I was on Iona, Mull, Kerrera and Lismore as well as Glencoe. Absolutely loved it :-)
oh that’s interesting, cheers. I didn’t know some iPhone models support raw output.
Western Scotland is fabulous isn’t it….!
